What we offer
Emergency dental treatment
Many people avoid going to the dentist for years, if not decades. Some people believe that if they are not experiencing any dental problems then making a dental appointment is not necessary. But regular dental care is absolute necessary because most dental problems don't have any symptoms until they reach the advanced stages. By the time you notice there’s a problem with your mouth, it’s usually bad enough to require much more complicated treatment than if it had been detected earlier in a routine appointment.
An example is tooth decay. At Smiles By Sands we often hear patients comment, "Nothing hurts...I don't have any problems." But tooth decay doesn't hurt until it gets close to the nerve of the tooth.
By that time, the cavity has progressed far enough that a root canal and crown are often necessary, instead of the small filling that could have been placed if the cavity had been detected while it was still small. During a routine dental exam, Dr. Jamie Sands and Dr. Jason Sands can usually detect a cavity three to four years before it develops any noticeable symptoms. It’s not uncommon to see a patient with a tremendous cavity who has never felt a thing!
The best way to prevent this from happening to you is to see your dentist on a regular basis. Dr. Jamie Sands and Dr. Jason Sands recommend visits every six months for optimal dental health. We’ll clean your teeth of plaque deposits, apply fluoride treatments, and take x-rays that can detect even the smallest cavities before they grow large enough to cause discomfort, or to require extensive restoration treatment.
If you need to schedule a regular dental checkup, please call Smiles By Sands at 818-766-6121. We’ll make sure your teeth are kept as strong and healthy as possible.
